What it takes for an instrument to be properly maintened?
Well, I'm so glad you went into the process of getting involved with this piece because many people don't realize how important this is.
To begin with, I want to mention that like my friends from the tech department of Zaranikas Music Store have written, maintaining your instrument brings you closer to it and helps you gain a better understanding of it in general, which is very important for your improvement as a player. Stringed musical instruments are in the vast majority made of wood, contain mechanical parts such as the tuning machines, the truss rod, nuts and saddles and electrical parts such as pickups. Woods are living entities that react and adapt to changes in weather conditions, such as temperature and humidity. In the case of musical instruments, a potential shift of a part means in effect that it is being deregulated.
Why is it so important to change strings and keep the instrument neat and clean?
- “Well, well you're overreacting! No way I will change my strings every now and then.“
- “If you want to play with ease and not get your frets damaged, you have to do it.”
All right, guys. Who doesn't get bored changing their strings every 3-4 weeks? I sure do, which is why I take my guitar to my friends at Zaranikas Music Store's tech department and they do it for me. 😂😂
Now all kidding aside, one time I had to change the frets on my guitar because I wasn't replacing the strings as often as I should and I wasn't cleaning it carefully. And it was something that really bothered me, since I had to part with it for a few days.
Since then I learned my lesson, as my friends told me, damaged and rusty strings "harden" the instrument, causing wear and tear on the frets and later on the fingerboard/fretboard. The cleanliness of the instrument, apart from the aesthetic aspect, is responsible for the frets moving out of place, as well as, damage to the electrics of an instrument (e.g. potentiometers).
What is a truss rod in musical instruments?
Oh, you're not a newbie, are you?
Well, look I'm definitely not the right person to answer you in detail because I don't know how to explain it like my Zaranikas Music Store tech friends do, although I certainly know it's a very important part of some stringed musical instruments.
.
What is the set-up/service and what is your approach?
Now, you're putting me on the spot. First of all, there are technical terms that I don't know how to explain to you what a musical instrument's service is and secondly, the guys there are my very good friends, as I've said countless of times. So I'll tell you that they have a philosophy that suits me, so we've been hanging out and getting along for years.
Also, I know very well that we can't fit in with everyone, especially when there are subjective factors. Therefore, I suggest you read in detail what they have to say and then contact them or better yet visit them. They will be happy to see you!
What is the cost of the services you offer and how long does it take to complete them?
Whew...I don't want you to think I'm bored answering you, but it's a lot and I have to go to the conservatory so ..b̶o̶o̶o̶o̶r̶e̶d̶.
Why don't you go read them in detail on their relevant page here?
Mr. Mousikoulis, I still have a few questions.
Really? Are you sure you read all the articles by my tech friends in detail? If so, send me your question in the form below:
